Urigan was a high priest and ruler of the ancient Mesopotamian city of Kandar circa 3000 BC. After forming an alliance with a creature known as "The Watcher In The Woods", Urigan used the demon's dark magic to create the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.

Urigan first appeared in the "Gilga-Ash" chapter of the Army of Darkness Roleplaying Game released by Eden Studios in 2005.

Biography[]

Rise To Power[]

It was shortly after the appearance of a strange creature known only as "The Watcher In The Woods" that Urigan, a respected figure in Kandar, was contacted by the city's authorities for guidance on how to deal with the beast. Urigan studied "The Watcher" as it preyed upon the locals, turning them unruly monsters which he believed to be the avatars of Ereshkigal, the goddess which he worshiped.

The Watcher and it's minions took notice of Urigan, and aided him and his newfound followers, a group colloquially known as "The Dark Ones", in performing a coup. With the old government overthrown, Urigan and his cultist were left untouched as The Watcher's legion began to unleash havoc in the streets of Kandar unopposed.

Urigan and his Dark Ones took residents inside the Temple of Ereshkigal, where a demon known as Beletseri (along with The Watcher itself) began instructing him on creating a tome of ancient magic, bound in human flesh and inked in the blood of those struggling between life and death.

Death[]

As the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis reached it's completion, Urigan and his followers (as well as the Deadites which roamed Kandar) were attacked by an army of human rebel fighters led by Enkidu and a warrior from another time. In this epic battle, both Urigan and Beletseri were slain.

Trivia[]

  • As the text of the Army of Darkness Roleplaying Game directly states the "Gilga-Ash" story is based on The Epic of Gilgamesh, Urigan seems to be loosely inspired by Gilgamesh himself as he was at the beginning his story, where he was said to have been a brutal and oppressive ruler of the city of Uruk.
