"The Graveyard" was a cemetery located somewhere in medieval England around the 14th Century. Until the arrival of Ash Williams in 1300 AD, the graveyard served as the resting place of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (and several duplicate copies).
The Graveyard's first and only on-screen appearance was in the Army of Darkness film, but has since appeared in several comic books and video games.
History[]
1300 AD[]
In the year 1300 AD, the time-displaced Ash Williams had arrived in medieval England, as he was prophesied to save it's inhabitants from the forces of evil which plagued their land. While reluctant to save the locals and more eager to return to his own time, Williams was told by Castle Kandar's resident Wise Man that regardless of his choice, he must journey to the cemetery and retrieve Necronomicon. After an incident which resulted in the creation of an evil clone, Ash eventually arrived at the graveyard, only to discover that three books (with one being the real Necronomicon) had been laid out before him.
Ash eventually discovered which of the three books was authentic, but failed to speak the three words which the Wise Man had warned him to speak before removing the book from the graveyard. Because of Ash's failure to remember the last of magic words, the dead which rested in the cemetery were resurrected as Deadites, climbing out from their graves to attack the mortals throughout the land. The evil clone of Ash eventually arrived at the graveyard and took command of the growing undead army around him, choosing to use the cemetery as a form of "base camp" until he and his Deadite soldiers were ready to lead a siege on Castle Kandar.
What happened to the graveyard following Evil Ash's failed attack on the castle remains unknown, though in one alternate universe it eventually served as the home of The Faceless Man several months after the defeat of the army of Deadites.
"The Cursed Altar"[]
While no different than any other cemetery in it's initial appearance, this graveyard contain a large stone altar at it's center on which the Necronomicon resided. One alternate reality depicts a hidden underground chamber located underneath the table, which could be accessed by pressing against one of the large stone slabs that made up the altar itself. In the universe known as Earth-818793, a curse was bound to the fake Necronomicons that sat upon the table that rendered them to be impossible to remove from the stone surface unless there was a severe alteration to the space-time continuum.
