This is about the book featured in the 2013 film. You might be looking for Naturom Demonto from Evil Dead Rise or the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.
Naturom Demonto is an ancient book bound in human flesh that serves as an enchiridion of demonology and spirit possession. In 2013, the book was used to awaken the Taker of Souls in the woods surrounding a remote cabin, which resulted in the summoning of the demonic entity known as "The Abomination".
Naturom Demonto first appeared in the 2013 film Evil Dead.
History[]
Creation[]
There is little information regarding the book's origin or whereabouts prior to 2013, though it's pages feature hand-written annotations and translations written in several languages, implying that it has been passed across the world through the many centuries of it's existence.
The Cabin[]
By the 21st Century, the book had made it's way to the United States, falling into the possession of a mysterious woman that had an authoritative knowledge of it's contents. At some point before 2013, this woman had used the book to save the soul of a young girl whose body had become host to a Deadite spirit. Following this ritual, the book was placed in a black garbage back and wrapped up in barbed wire, left to gather dust in the cellar of the abandoned cabin where the ceremony had taken place.
The book was later discovered by David Allen and his friend Eric, who had come to the cabin for a detox session for David's heroine-addicted half-sister Mia. Despite the numerous warnings scribbled into Naturom Demonto's pages, Eric chose to read aloud a passage from the book that awakened the Taker of Souls, which resulted in the deaths of almost everyone visiting the cabin. Prior to his own death, Eric had tried burning Naturom Demonto in a small metal bucket in an attempt to stop the demonic onslaught, but was bewildered to discover the book was "immune" to fire.
After Mia Allen was released of her own Deadite possession and fought The Abomination, the book was left outside of the cabin.

Notes[]
- The name "Naturom Demonto" was originally used for the version of the book featured in The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II. Beginning with the Evil Dead II film, all subsequent media (with the exception of the 2008 comic adaptation of The Evil Dead) have since retconned the name of that book to "Necronomicon Ex-Mortis".
Trivia[]
- Some promotional material for the 2013 film referred to Naturom Demonto as "The Book of The Dead", though this moniker is never used in the film itself.
- One of the book's pages depicts a corpse crawling out of a grave with an outstretched arm. This pose is an homage to Mark Skolsky's poster for the original 1981 Evil Dead film.
