Mr. Fonda was the owner of the landscaping business Fonda's Tree Surgery and a tenant of the Monde Apartments building in Los Angeles, California. Following an earthquake which hit the Los Angeles area one stormy night, Fonda (like the other tenants on the 13th floor) was trapped inside the apartment after the building's stairwell was destroyed, eventually leading to a confrontation with his neighbor Ellie.
Mr. Fonda first appeared in the 2023 film Evil Dead Rise. He was portrayed by Mark Mitchinson.

Early Life[]
Nothing is known about Mr. Fonda's life prior to the incident at the apartment with the exception of him owning and operating his own landscaping business: Fonda's Tree Surgery. At some point in time, Mr. Fonda moved into the Monde Apartments building in Los Angeles, and was living there well into his 50s.
Incident At Monde Apartments[]
In 2023, Mr. Fonda was inside his apartment when an earthquake struck the Los Angeles area. His neighbor, Ellie had knocked on the door for help, as Ellie's three children had left the building to pick up pizza and had not returned. Mr. Fonda opened the door after Ellie had walked away, and conversed with Ellie's sister Beth (whom Ellie had told him was a groupie for a rock band). Ellie's three children arrived before the conversation could continue, and returned to his room.
Later that evening, Mr. Fonda was once again called upon for help, this time by Beth after the building had lost power and Ellie had returned to the apartment and passed out. After Ellie had seemingly died (as Beth and Danny were unable to get out of the building, discovering the stairway had been destroyed and the elevator was malfunctioning), Beth had asked for help from Mr. Fonda and another neighbor by the name of Gabriel for help on what to do, though the two were unable to do anything before morning.
Not long after this, Mr. Fonda heard a commotion from the corridor outside his apartment. Grabbing his shotgun and going to investigate, Mr. Fonda found Ellie viciously attacking the neighbors (Gabriel, Jake, and Scott). Mr. Fonda managed to fire off a shot at Ellie, but it was not enough to put her down. Ellie attacked Mr. Fonda, ripping out his guts and killing him instantly.
Sometime later, Mr. Fonda was resurrected as a Deadite when Beth and her young niece Kassie tried to escape the apartment. Mr. Fonda scolded Beth for taking his shotgun from his hands, prompting Beth to beat him up with the butt of the shotgun.

- Like the other characters of Evil Dead Rise, Mr. Fonda's name is an homage to an actor from a previous installment from the Evil Dead franchise. In this case, it is a reference to Bridget Fonda, who portrayed Linda in Army of Darkness.
