Monde Apartments is a 14-story apartment complex located in Los Angeles, California. Prior to it's conversion into a high-rise some time in the mid-to-late 20th Century, the building was known as Monde National Bank.
Monde Apartments first appeared in the 2023 film Evil Dead Rise.
History[]
Construction[]
The building which eventually became Monde Apartments was initially constructed as Monde National Bank some time before 1923. Although very little is known about the structure during this time, there was a large vault constructed deep below the foundation which was eventually used by the Catholic Church to store a dangerous artifact known as Naturom Demonto.
As Monde Apartments[]
At an unknown point in time in the mid-to-late 20th Century, the building was converted into an apartment complex, and the church's vault was paved over by the new underground parking garage. By the 21st Century, specifically 2023, the building had fallen into a state of disrepair, and was set to be demolished.
In the weeks leading up to the scheduled demolition, an earthquake hit the Los Angeles area, which revealed the hidden vault beneath the parking garage. One of the tenants of the apartments, a teenager named Danny, ventured into the secret chamber and discovered the vault had been adorned with various religious charms and symbols in an attempt to ward off any malevolent force seeing Naturom Demonto.

Live Events[]
- Monde Apartments appeared as the primary setting of the walk-through Evil Dead Rise haunted house attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights event in 2023.
- The Evil Dead Rise haunted house was slated to be a part of the Halloween Horror Nights 2022 event, but had to be scrapped after the film's release was pushed to 2023. Because most of the attraction was already built, the Evil Dead Rise characters and elements were removed, and an original theme entitled Universal Horror Hotel was created. For this incarnation, the Monde Apartments set was converted into the "Hotel Universal".
Comic Books[]
- Monde Apartments made a cameo appearance in issue twelve of the Army of Darkness Forever comic book series, representing one of the alternate realities which received one of the six variant incarnations of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.
