Linda was the girlfriend of Ash Williams in the reality known as Earth-818793. As most other interpretations of the character, she was turned into a Deadite during a weekend trip to a cabin in the woods.
Early Life Edit
Not much is known about Linda's early life, except she first met Ash Williams in the second grade.
While attending high school in the late 1970s, she invited Ash to a party at the new house she and her family had just moved into. Unbeknownst to Linda, an older Ash Williams from the early 21st Century (who happened to be already there in the past) stopped a group of demons from escaping a doorway leading directly into Hell that had opened up in her house's basement. The older Ash defeated the demons and sent his younger-self upstairs, where he had his first kiss with Linda.
At some point after this, she and Ash began working at S-Mart, and furthered their relationship to "boyfriend and girlfriend".
At The Cabin Edit
In the early 21st Century, Linda and Ash took a trip to a supposedly abandoned cabin in the mountains, where the Ash discovered the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis. Upon tapering with the ancient book, a demon was released that turned Linda into a creature called a Deadite. With her soul "swallowed" by the creature, the Deadite spirit took over Linda's body and attacked Ash, who eventually managed to kill her by decapitation.
This attack was somewhat useless, as the Deadite Linda encountered a version of Ash from "the future" (by just a few days) who had gone back to the cabin to try to save her from becoming a Deadite. Revealing that it was already too late for her, Ash was once again forced to kill his undead girlfriend.
Several months later, following his escape from Arkham Asylum, Ash would return to the cabin in an attempt to destroy the spirits held there once and for all. Several Deadites (such as Linda, Henrietta Knowby, and Jake) would rise from their graves to make one more attempt at stopping Ash, and again, were unsuccessful.
Linda's spirit would eventually visit Ash one Christmas eve some years after her death. Under the guise of "The Ghost of Christmas Future", Linda briefly showed Ash a world in which he never existed, where Deadites swiftly slaughter a group of S-Mart customers.
Saved From The Cabin Edit
At an unknown point in time, Ash Williams claimed that he had gone back in time and successfully stopped Linda from going to the cabin with him. Wanting to see how his actions would change the future, he returned only to discover that a bad break-up had occurred between him and Linda, and that several other ripples in the time stream had been created. Realizing that this wasn't the world he wanted, Ash undid his actions and sealed Linda's fate at the cabin.
- It's possible that Linda was one of the several skeletal Deadites seen in the cabin during the Home Sweet Hell storyline, though it's never been confirmed.
- This version of Linda is visually based on actress Bridget Fonda, who portrayed Linda in the Army of Darkness film. Later variations of Linda featured in other comic books based on Army of Darkness do not resemble Fonda like this Earth-818793 version does.
- For her "teenage" appearance in Army of Darkness Volume 3 #8, Linda was modeled after actress Betsy Baker, the first Linda from The Evil Dead.
