Kassie is the youngest daughter of Jay and Ellie, the youngest sister of Bridget and Danny, and the niece of Beth Bixler. After Danny's discovery of an ancient book hidden beneath Monde Apartments, Kassie watched as her family gradually became possessed by demonic spirits until only her and her aunt Beth remained.
Kassie first appeared in the 2023 film Evil Dead Rise, where she was portrayed by Nell Fisher.
Biography
Early Life
There is very little information in regards to Kassie's life prior to the incident at the apartment, with the exception that she was born in the early 2010s, the last child of Jay and Ellie before the couple's separation in the early 2020s. She lived with her mother and older siblings (Danny and Bridget) in the Monde Apartments building in Los Angeles, California.
Incident In The Apartment
Following the unannounced arrival of Beth to the apartment one rainy night, Kassie was told to ride with Danny and Bridget to pick up a pizza to allow Ellie and Beth to talk freely about Jay's recent departure from the family. Upon returning to the building's parking garage, an earthquake struck the Los Angeles area, scaring Kassie and sending their food and drink onto the concrete floor. Before returning upstairs, Kassie and Bridget watched as Danny explored a newly unearthed vault hidden beneath the garage (a remnant from when the apartment operated as a bank in the early 20th Century). While exploring, Danny recovered a strange book, along with a set of three vinyl records, all of which he brought back with them upon returning to their room on the 14th floor.
Shortly after returning, Beth was in the midst of helping Kassie take a bath when Ellie returned from the building's laundry room on the ground floor. Unbeknownst to anyone, Ellie had been attacked and infected by a newly resurrected demonic entity unleashed after Danny listened to the vintage vinyl recordings. Kassie and the others immediately took notice of Ellie's strange behavior as she slowly succumbed to demonic possession, eventually transforming into a Deadite.
Eventually, the Deadite Ellie was trapped outside the apartment after the neighbors had come to investigate the commotion coming from the room. Shortly after this, Kassie would be tricked by the creature in her mother's skin into unlocking the door after Ellie claimed Jay had just arrived to reunite with the family. The young girl opened the door, only for Ellie to quickly reach through the open space between and grabbed Kassie by the throat. Bridget and Danny ran to Kassie's rescue, only for them to face off against Bridget, who became infected following Ellie's initial attack. When the Deadite Bridget chased Danny into a bedroom, Kassie defended herself using a crude weapon of her own creation called "Staffanie", which penetrated directly through her possessed sister's head.
Shortly after this traumatic event, Ellie managed to sneak into the apartment through the ventilation system, and Bridget broke free of her bindings. Kassie hid as Bridget attacked Danny and Ellie attacked Beth. Though Danny had managed to fight off Bridget on his own before succumbing to his wounds, Kassie was hidden in a position which allowed her to help her aunt Beth, throwing her a pair of scissors from underneath a table. Beth jammed the scissors into Ellie's face, stunning the Deadite as she and Kassie ran out of the apartment and into the corridor.
After dealing with a newly-possessed Mr. Fonda laying in the hall, Beth and Kassie escaped through the building's elevator, though they nearly drowned in blood before it reached the bottom floor. Upon reaching the parking garage, the two survivors silently hid from Ellie, Bridget, and Danny, who had merged their bodies into a monstrous form known as "The Marauder". Moments before the garage's gate closed, Kassie was grabbed by the ankle by The Marauder and dragged into the back of Fonda's work van, where the creature attempted to attack her with a chainsaw. Beth broke back in moments before the monster could inflict any physical harm upon the young girl, and lured it towards a mobile woodchipper hitched to the back of the van. Waiting for the right moment, Kassie turned on the woodchipper as Beth knocked The Marauder into the machine's feed chute, grinding it into a fine crimson paste. With the bodies of Ellie, Danny, and Bridget finally destroyed, Beth and Kassie walked out of the parking garage.
What happened to Kassie following this incident remains unknown.
Weapons & Equipment
Kassie wields the newly-created "Staffanie" while wearing the old yarn head of the mop (Evil Dead Rise)
- "Staffanie": After getting scared by a story told to her by Danny about an alleged ghost which haunts the apartment building, Kassie created "Staffanie", a wooden mop stick with a baby doll head attached to one end. Shortly after it's creation, Staffanie was broken in half while Kassie and Bridget were playing. Incidentally, it was breaking Staffanie which made it more effective later that night when Kassie used the sharp end to stab the Deadite Bridget through the head.
