This is about the demon. You might be looking for the city of Kandar or Castle Kandar.

Kandar The Destroyer was a demon summoned by The Dark Ones to battle The Prophesied One for the fate of humanity. A being of great stature, Kandar arose in the city of Elk Grove, Michigan in 2017, where it was confronted by Ash Williams and the United States military.

Kandar The Destroyer first appeared as a cameo in the Ash vs Evil Dead Season Three episode Judgement Day, but later made it's full debut the following episode, The Mettle of Man.

Biography[]

Arrival In Elk Grove[]

Kandar's arrival on the earthly plane was heralded by The Dark Ones escaping from the Deadlands just a few hours prior. After centuries of imprisonment within the otherworldly realm, The Dark Ones immediately began enacting their revenge by killing those who had betrayed them and acquiring both the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis and it's "lost pages". Upon reuniting the pages with the book itself, The Dark Ones immediately used the completed Ex-Mortis to summon Kandar The Destroyer.[1]

Ash Williams (the "Prophesied One" who was destined to battle against Kandar) fled from the city of Elk Grove upon seeing the enormous creature in-full, and retreated to his childhood home, hoping Kandar would "just go away." In Ash's absence from the scene, the United States Army and Air Force arrived in the city to combat the demon, sending a barrage of bullets and missiles towards the monster, which unknowingly making Kandar more powerful.[2]

Death[]

Upon having a change of heart and finding the courage to meet his destiny, Ash returned to front lines where the military was continuing their assault. Eventually learning that the military planned on dropping a nuclear bomb on the town (still ignorant to the fact that their weaponry would only make the demon stronger) and a mass-evacuation was ordered, Ash elected to stay to battle Kandar alone. Commandeering an abandoned tank, eventually Williams caught the attention of the enormous demon. Loading the tank's barrel with the Kandarian Dagger, Ash waited for the perfect moment to fire the mystical blade directly into Kandar's chest as the demon was mere seconds away from crushing the machine within it's fist. Upon the dagger striking it's target, Kandar let out a screech of agony as it's large body began to burn and melt. After a few moments of pain, Kandar collapsed to the town below, defeated by humanity's champion.[2]

Powers & Abilities[]

  • Limited Invincibility: Kandar seemed to be impervious to everything (explosives, bullets, ect.) except the Kandarian Dagger.
  • Damage Empowerment: Kandar appeared to absorb all incoming damage from conventional weaponry to further increase its own strength.
  • Fire Breath: During it's assault on Elk Grove, Kandar demonstrated the ability to breath fire.

Trivia[]

  • According to Michael Asquith (a "creature designer" and concept artist on the third season of Ash Vs Evil Dead), Kandar's design was originally created for a generic female demon, but was later re-purposed with minor modifications to become the final on-screen version of Kandar.
