Bow but do not cower! I have delivered to you the Four Horsemen, riders of the Apocalypse!
~ The Red Demon

The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse are four Demons of biblical legend that will ride the Earth during "The End of Days", bringing hell upon the world of the living and enslaving those who remained. Following the defeat of Evil Ash Prime and the destruction of all Deadites, the Horsemen were unleashed by a red demon who sought to release The Dark Ones and rule what remained of the Earth.

The Four Horsemen first appeared in Army of Darkness Volume 2 (The Long Road Home) #5.

The Anti-Christ[]

I am bored. The end of days are usually a bit more exciting than this.
~ Satan's Daughter

The alleged daughter of Satan himself, the Anti-Christ rides the white horse. The Anti-Christ has pale grey skin and strange curvy tattoos across her body, all of which is exposed due to her wearing no clothing outside of black riding gloves and a helmet. Upon their summoning to the Earth by the red demon, the Anti-Christ grew restless as the demon worked on finishing the "final" pages of the Necronomicon Ex-Libris, the Libram of The Dead. She also seemed displeased with War, now viewing him as a "brown nosing Number Two" who was loyal to the red demon. Upon the completion of the book, the red demon allowed Satan's Daughter and the other horsemen to torture the remaining humans that War had collected. Like the other horsemen, she disappeared when Ash Williams re-wrote reality.

Weapons & Equipment[]

  • Bow & Arrows: Satan's Daughter uses a bow as her weapon of choice, the only member of the horsemen to use a projectile firing weapon.

War[]

I live to serve the end of all.
~ War

Rider of the red horse, War is a battle-hardened armor-clad gladiator. Unlike the other horsemen, the red demon gave War a task to complete while he worked on re-writing the Necronomicon, which was to round-up all remaining non-mutated humans and use them as slaves. War obeyed, and brought the demon the humans he requested. During his battle with Ash Williams, War seemed to inflict the most damage upon The Chosen One. He vanished from the world of the living after Ash managed to undo the apocalypse.

Weapons & Equipment[]

  • Sword: War's main weapon of choice was a massive sword. While fighting Ash Williams, he managed to cleanly cut the "blade" of Ash's chainsaw in half with the sword.

Death[]

A skeletal figure wrapped in bandages and a shredded brown cloak, the rider of the pale horse is the living embodiment of Death itself. Death's fellow horsemen once claimed that in all their centuries of working alongside each other, he has never spoken a single word to them. Death disappeared following Ash Williams using his blood to create an reality altering page of the Necronomicon.

Weapons & Equipment[]

  • Scythe: Death weapon was a scythe. During his time on Earth, he was seen slicing several people in half with it.

Famine[]

So much raw meat for me to rot.
~ Famine

Famine (sometimes called "Pestilence") is the rider of the black horse. Unlike the other horsemen, Famine has no weapon, but rather has a deadly touch that causes his victims to disintegrate instantly. When the red demon and the other horsemen confronted Ash Williams in Cleveland, Ohio, Famine was the only horseman to be killed by Williams, who stabbed Famine with an arrow fired by Satan's Daughter and then proceeded to cave the horseman's skull in with a headbutt. Before attacking Ash, War thanked him for killing "that annoying sack of bile".

Trivia[]

  • The Four Horsemen make cameos throughout the Home Sweet Hell storyline.
  • In the New Testament of the Bible, Pestilence and Famine are often treated as two different horsemen, though for Famine's appearance in the Army of Darkness comics, they were combined and the two names were used interchangeably throughout the series.
  • While Conquest is what the New Testament originally used as the white horse's rider, the Army of Darkness comic replaces him with the Anti-Christ, which has been more commonly used since the 20th Century.
