The Evil Dead II UK Television Spot was a 30-second TV commercial which aired exclusively in the United Kingdom in 1987 to promote the theatrical release of Evil Dead II. Commissioned by Palace Pictures (the UK distributor of The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II), the commercial stars Sam Raimi and British entertainer Jonathan Ross as fictionalized versions of themselves.
Plot Overview[]
The commercial sees Sam Raimi and Jonathan Ross sitting in a movie theater watching Evil Dead II. Sam addresses the viewer, introducing himself as the director of The Evil Dead, and says that he invited Ross to check out his new movie: Evil Dead II. Jonathan jumps in his seat, startled by the scenes on the big screen. Raimi then leans over to Ross and asks if this movie will scare the audience as much as the first film, to which Ross replies that it's a safe bet, as this film "has a lot more surprises." Suddenly, dark demonic arms reach out from inside the theater seats next to Jonathan, pulling him backwards into a cloud of fog behind him. Sam smiles and continues to eat his popcorn, saying there's a lot to "grab the audience."
