Caleb was the boyfriend of Jessica and associate of Teresa. Caleb would meet a grisly end when Jessica became possessed by a Deadite spirit and decapitated him while on vacation at his father's lakeside cabin in the woods.

Caleb first appeared in the 2023 film Evil Dead Rise, portrayed by Richard Crouchley.

Biography

There is very little information regarding Caleb's life before the trip to the lake, though at some point he began a relationship with Jessica.

Incident At The Lake

In 2023, Caleb invited Jessica (along with several other friends) to come up to his father's secluded lakeside cabin for a vacation. Jessica agreed, bringing along her cousin Teresa.

Unbeknownst to either Caleb or Teresa, Jessica had been attacked by the ancient entity known as the Kandarian Demon moments before she left her apartment, and was infected with a Deadite spirit. At some point after their arrival, Caleb became aware of Jessica's "illness", and gave her Klonopin, a drug used to treat seizures and anxiety. Leaving Jessica alone in the cabin, Caleb headed back outside to begin playing with a camera drone, using it to quickly buzz through the woods and sneak-up on Teresa sitting on the lake's dock. Annoyed with Caleb, Teresa went back to the cabin to check on her cousin.

Several minutes later, Teresa staggered out of the cabin and back onto the dock where Caleb was standing. Caleb was horrified to see Teresa bleeding profusely from the head, seemingly scalped by an unknown attacker. Jessica followed behind Teresa, with Caleb looking at her newly-transformed Deadite form. After Jessica sliced her face open with the spinning blades of the nearby drone, she knocked herself into the lake, with Caleb jumping in after her. Under the water, the Deadite attacked Caleb, and proceeded to rip his head and neck right off his body and toss it back onto the dock.

Trivia

  • Caleb's characterization is similar to that of Scotty from the original 1981 Evil Dead film. Both seem to enjoy taunting others (Teresa in Rise, Cheryl in the original) and show little regard to an "ill" member of their party who has recently been infected by evil (Jessica in Rise, Linda in the original).
