Brock Williams Hardware (also known as Brock's Value Hardware and Value Hardware Elk Grove) was a hardware/hunting supply store owned and operated by Brock Williams in the town of Elk Grove, Michigan. After Brock's death, his son Ash inherited the building, and reopened the shop as Ashy Slashy's Hardware And Sex Toy Emporium.

Brock Williams Hardware first appeared as a background location seen throughout various episodes of Ash vs Evil Dead Season Two, though it's interior and name would not be seen until the Season Three episode Family.

History[]

Very little is known about the store during Brock's tenure as owner, such as when he purchased the store, though there is only one truly noteworthy event occurring during this time. In December of 2012, a man entered the store and spoke to Brock, inquiring about the whereabouts of Ash Williams. The man rambled on about demons and an evil book, though Williams was having none of it. When the man stepped in front of Brock at the top of the stairs leading into the store's supply cellar, Williams kneed the stranger in the crotch, sending him tumbling down the steps. Realizing he might have killed the man, Brock nailed the doorway leading into the cellar shut, walked out the front door, and never returned. Unbeknownst to Brock, the stranger survived the fall, and began to inscribe ancient spells from the lost pages of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis upon the back wall of the cellar in the hopes that someday Ash would find the incantations.[1]

Several years later, Ash Williams would inherit the store after Brock's gory demise courtesy of the possessed Oldsmobile racing through the streets of Elk Grove. After having saved his hometown from the forces of evil, Ash would reopen the shop, now functioning as both a hardware store and sex toy shop. During the store's grand opening festivities, Williams was reunited with his ex-wife, Candace "Candy" Barr, who informed Ash that they had a daughter together. Upon learning that demonic forces were on the loose again, Ash was forced to step away from his new business venture.[2]

What happened to the store following the defeat of Kandar The Destroyer remains unknown, though it was presumably destroyed by the nuclear bomb dropped on the town by the United States military.[3]

Trivia[]

  • The signage around the exterior of the store (particularly the "Brock's Value Hardware" and "Value Hardware Elk Grove") appear to be direct homages to the signs typically found on True Value stores.
