Ash Williams was an average man whom fate had decided would battle the terrors of the Deadites in a secluded cabin in the woods and in the blighted lands of medieval England during the 14th Century. Following these adventures, Williams would be recruited by the private military contractor organization known as SpecGru to carry out international tactical operations.

This version of Ash Williams (based on his appearance in the 1987 film Evil Dead II) appeared as part of the officially licensed "Ash Operator Bundle" DLC released for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on October 23rd, 2023. He was voiced by Bruce Campbell.

Trivia[]

Several of Ash's lines featured in Call of Duty were previously said in the Evil Dead II film. These include:
- "I'm alright, okay? I'm alright"
  - While not an exact quote, this line is identical to a line spoken by Ash to Annie Knowby after being released of his Deadite possession: "Damn it! I said I was alright! Are you listening to me? You hear what I'm sayin'? I'm alright! I'm alright."
- "Gotcha, didn't I, you little sucker?"
- "You did it kid, by god, you did it."
- "You're going down!"
- "Time to blow your butts to kingdom come and end this stupid game!"
  - Another instants of not an exact quote, but a reference to the line in the film where Ash is nervously standing in the cabin after hunting his severed hand: "Got the ol' double-barrel here... blow your butts to kingdom come!"
- "Groovy."
This marks the third time Bruce Campbell has reprised the role of Ash Williams for a video game following his "retirement" from portraying the character in live-action media in 2018, with the previous two instances being Dead By Daylight (2019) and Evil Dead: The Game (2022).
Ash's appearance is adapted from Evil Dead II, though he carries an unusable chainsaw on his back, rather than having it attached in place of his right hand.
The Kastov 762 "Groovy" blueprint in Ash's bundle is a reference to his iconic catchphrase, which also originated from Evil Dead II. The Lockwood 300 "Boomstick" blueprint from the same bundle is a reference to Ash's iconic shotgun, as well as his line "This... is my BOOMSTICK!" from the sequel Army of Darkness.
- Both blueprints have "SWALLOW THIS" written on the side. This is a reference to the same line in Evil Dead II, said by Ash to the Deadite Henrietta Knowby before he kills her.
