Army of Darkness: Ash For President is a 48-page special comic from Dynamite Entertainment parodying the 2016 Presidential Election. It was released August 31st, 2016.

When the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis gives him a cryptic message, Ash Williams enlists the help of the beautiful psychic Delilah to help him track down the agent of The Great Darkness, which could be Valerie Sexton, Norman Treadway, or Brock Anders, two candidates in this year's presidential election. Ash accidentally joins the race and represents the American Patriot Party when he kills their Deadite candidate. After multiple speeches, Ash is ready to expose whoever the Great Darkness is at a debate, and after saying four magic words, it is revealed that both Mrs. Sexton and Mr. Anders are both The Great Darkness. After defeating this Great Darkness, a blood-covered Ash is the only candidate standing, and since he no longer has any competition, he is by default sworn in as The President of The United States of America.

  • The title and plot for "Ash For President" was most likely inspired from the parody social media campaign created to promote the first season of Ash vs. Evil Dead, with both Bruce Campbell and the series' official Twitter pages releasing fake campaign posters featuring Ash as a presidential candidate. It also could have been inspired from the Necronomicon's comment in the Ash vs. Evil Dead episode "Bound In Flesh" that Ash will never be president.
  • The subtitle of the story: The Cthulu-ian Candidate is a reference to the 1962 film, The Manchurian Candidate.
  • In the story, Valerie Sexton is accused of stealing lines from one of Ash's speeches. This either is referencing or predicting a similar event in the real life 2016 campaign when when Melania Trump was accused of stealing lines from a speech by Michelle Obama. Since it takes several months to write and draw a comic, it was most likely just a joke line rather than a prediction.
  • Ash mentions going to Hell and fighting with angels, something he did in the Ash And The League of Light series, implying that this takes place on Earth-818793. But he also mentions being an astronaut, which is something that happened to the Ash of the Ash And The Army of Darkness series, not the Ash of Earth-818793.
  • When Delilah is possessed by the Necronomicon, it warns Ash of The Great Darkness, and then shows a swarm of Demons on fire. One of the Demons is Eligos from Ash vs Evil Dead. This is his first appearance another media outside of the television series.
